My thoughts on the Sony Tablet S

Had a few moments to check out the new Sony Honeycomb tablet. I wasn’t expecting much but I came away extremely impressed!

The ‘wedge’ shape of the tablet works better than I thought it would and the performance of the display tablet worked much better than any of the other Android tablets on display. I was most impressed however by how light the tablet feels.

Specs wise, the Sony is only a few grams lighter than my iPad 2 (598g vs 612g) however it feels much, much lighter than the iPad or any other tablet I’ve used. I suspect the wedge shape helps distribute the weight better compared to a solid slab.

It’s got 2 problems though: it’s too expensive and despite just being released here it’s already out of date. With the quad-core Asus Transformer Prime about to be released with much better specs and a very likely lower price, I doubt people would choose the Sony over the Asus.
